Private Home Network, Camera, and Access Systems
Unified Technology for Coastal Homes
CloudCentric installs the network, Wi-Fi, cameras, door and gate access, and phones in private homes as one UniFi system. We serve homes on the coast from Charleston to Savannah, including Daniel Island, Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms, Kiawah, Seabrook, Mount Pleasant, downtown Charleston, and Folly Beach. You can reach us at (844) 422-7000.
The network, cameras, doors, and phones are separate UniFi apps (Network, Protect, Access, and Talk) operating under one UniFi account on one console in the house. The homeowner owns the installed hardware and the camera recordings, which are kept securely on a recorder in the house.
System Design and Environmental Planning
The house is walked before anything is specified. Historic construction changes the design: tabby, plaster over lath, foil-backed insulation, and metal roofs all affect where cable can run and how far Wi-Fi reaches. On a raised house built over parking, the network rack is placed on a living floor above flood level rather than at ground level.
Salt air on the barrier islands corrodes exposed fixings, so exterior hardware and mounting screws on beach houses are specified differently from inland houses. Ubiquiti publishes weather ratings for its outdoor equipment but no salt-spray rating, so placement and fixings on oceanfront houses are chosen at the survey.
Installation and Aesthetics
In new construction, cable goes in before insulation and drywall. Conduit runs to the dock, the pool house, and the detached garage while the ground is open. In a finished house, cable is routed through the attic, the crawlspace, and existing openings. Cable in the rack is dressed, and every run is labeled at both ends.
Equipment is placed in the attic, the crawlspace, and one cupboard so living rooms show as little of it as possible. Wall plates are fitted flush, and plates can be painted to match the room. The UniFi Dream Wall offers a centralized hardware alternative as a wall-mounted unit that combines the gateway, a 17-port switch, Wi-Fi, and camera recording with a small touchscreen.
Wi-Fi Networks and Connectivity
Wi-Fi is planned to reach porches, docks, pools, the pool house, and the room over the garage as well as the main rooms. UniFi's Wi-Fi 7 line includes in-wall, wall-mounted, ceiling, mesh, and outdoor access points. The house network and the guest network are kept separate, so a visitor's phone cannot reach the cameras or door hardware. A rack battery keeps the network and cameras running through a short power cut.
Property Cameras
The smallest UniFi camera, the AI Theta, puts only a lens under an inch across on the wall or ceiling; its electronics sit in a hub out of sight. Other small cameras in the range are the G5 Flex, the G6 Mini Dome, and the G6 Instant and G4 Instant, which connect via Wi-Fi and are powered by USB-C.
Doors, Gates, and Intercoms
Front-door options include the G4 Doorbell Pro, the Doorbell Lite, and the G6 Entry, which combines a camera, a ring button, and a door reader. Doors, the driveway gate, and the garage door can be opened from a phone, by a tap of an iPhone or Apple Watch in Apple Wallet, by a card, or by a code. Family, housekeepers, dog walkers, and contractors can each be given their own access, limited to set doors and hours, and withdrawn without changing a lock.
A driveway gate can open for a listed car's license plate using a UniFi AI camera and the Access Gate Hub. Gated islands such as Kiawah and Seabrook control their main island gates through the property owners' association; UniFi runs a private driveway gate, not the island gate. A doorbell press can ring the Access app, the UniFi Endpoint app, a phone number, or a UniFi Talk desk phone in the house.
House Phones and Smart Sensors
UniFi Talk can provide a house phone line on the same system, with handsets in the kitchen, office, or guest wing. Sensors on UniFi's long-range SuperLink radio report door openings, water leaks, and temperature from a dock or outbuilding up to 2 km away in line of sight.
Smart Home Integration and Legal Limits
UniFi is not a lighting, shade, audio, or climate controller; it is the network, camera, door, and phone layer under whatever runs those. Official Home Assistant integrations exist for UniFi Protect and UniFi Access, and paid third-party drivers connect UniFi Protect to Control4. UniFi door intercoms can send doorbell calls to a Control4 system over SIP.
UniFi is not a monitored alarm and gives no UL alarm certificate. South Carolina licenses burglar and fire alarm contractors separately, and fire alarm lines stay on a carrier or listed cellular line. When a project is finished, handover covers the apps, the owner's own logins, and a written record of every labeled run.
