Private Home Access Control
Unified Access Control
UniFi Access runs the front door, a pedestrian side gate, the driveway gate and the garage door from one list of people and one log.
Each person gets their own access, limited to chosen doors and hours, so a housekeeper's code works on weekday mornings and a contractor's works only for the job.
Removing a person stops their access at once, with no locks to change.
Locks are fitted to suit the existing door, with electric strikes, bolts and magnetic locks in the range.
Unlock Methods and Visitors
Unlock methods include an NFC card or fob, a PIN, a phone in the UniFi Endpoint app, Touch Pass in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and face unlock on supported readers.
With Touch Pass, a tap of an iPhone or Apple Watch opens doors and gates.
A visitor invitation sent by email or SMS carries a QR code, PIN or card for the visit, and the credential is revoked automatically when the visit ends.
Intercoms, Cameras and Routing
The G3 Intercom has a 7-inch touchscreen and a camera, is rated IP65 for outdoor use, and unlocks by card, PIN, QR code, wallet, phone or face.
The G6 Entry fits a door frame, combining a camera, a package camera, a ring button and a reader; it is rated IP55.
A ring at the door can go to the Access app, the UniFi Endpoint app, a phone number, a UniFi Talk desk phone or a Control4 system.
The door can be answered and unlocked from a phone anywhere.
Microphone recording on an intercom or reader can be switched off while video still records.
Driveway Gates and Garages
The Access Gate Hub drives sliding, single and double swing, barrier gates and roll-up garage doors, and also controls one pedestrian side door.
The Gate Hub can run over existing two-wire cable to the gate, carrying power and data together.
The Gate Hub itself is rated for indoor use and goes in a waterproof enclosure at the gate.
Ubiquiti recommends a gate with a built-in auto-close timer, so the gate shuts after a set time.
Kiawah and Seabrook run their own island gates through the property owners' association; UniFi Access runs the private driveway gate behind them.
Licence Plate Recognition and Integrations
A UniFi AI camera can open the gate for a listed car's licence plate; supported cameras include the G6 Entry, G6 Turret, G6 Bullet and the AI Theta with its standard lens.
Licence plate unlock will not work unless the gate operator's UL 325 entrapment protection devices are connected.
Licence plate unlock is a convenience, not high security, because a copied plate could open the gate.
Door and gate events also appear in Home Assistant through its official UniFi Access integration, which can unlock a door and report whether it is open.
