Rugged UniFi DIN-Rail Switches for Control Panels and MCC Rooms
Upgrading to Managed Industrial Switches
Unlike an unmanaged switch, each industrial switch reports to the UniFi console, which shows port status, connected devices and alerts. Replacing an unmanaged panel switch is coordinated with the controls integrator or plant engineer, since controller addressing may need to change.

DIN-Rail Switch Models and Power Requirements
Ubiquiti's industrial DIN-rail switch line has three models: USW-Industrial-DIN-8, USW-Industrial-DIN-8-PoE and USW-Industrial-DIN-2.5G-8-PoE.
The USW-Industrial-DIN-8 features eight 1 GbE ports, two 1G SFP ports, a serial console port and no PoE. It takes 12 to 60 V DC on two terminal-block inputs, so it runs from a cabinet's existing 24 V DC supply with a second feed for redundancy. The USW-Industrial-DIN-8 draws 12 W at most.
The USW-Industrial-DIN-8-PoE provides eight 1 GbE PoE++ ports at up to 60 W each, totalling 480 W, plus two 1G SFP ports. It takes 44 to 57 V DC on two inputs, so it needs a 48 V DIN-rail supply, not 24 V.
The USW-Industrial-DIN-2.5G-8-PoE has eight PoE++ ports (four 2.5 GbE and four 1 GbE) and two SFP+ ports. Ubiquiti's store listed it as available January 2027 when checked on 2026-10-26. The 2.5G model ships without a power supply and needs a 44 to 57 V supply of 265 W or more for full PoE++ output.
Older Industrial Model Alternative
The older USW-Industrial is a 10-port fanless PoE switch with an internal 100 to 240 V AC supply. It is rated for -40 to 50 °C at full load and is built for wall or desk mounting.
Physical and Environmental Specifications
Both 8-port models measure 139 x 100 x 52 mm. Both have an aluminium enclosure, no fan and mount on DIN rail or a wall. Ubiquiti adds DIN mounting from the left, right or rear.
Both 8-port models run from -30 to 70 °C at 5 to 95 % non-condensing humidity. Both carry a dry-contact alarm relay (NC/COM/NO, up to 30 V DC at 1 A) for signalling a power or switch fault to a PLC or alarm panel.
Layer 2 Networking Capabilities
Both 8-port models list 20 Gbps switching capacity and 1,000 VLANs. The DIN-rail switches are Layer 2 only, with no routing.
Layer 2 features include LACP, STP and RSTP, IGMP snooping and querier, 802.1X, DHCP snooping, port isolation, port mirroring, storm control and loop protection. IGMP snooping keeps EtherNet/IP multicast I/O traffic from flooding every port.
Certifications and Deployment Limitations
The DIN-rail switches carry no IP rating and are installed inside a panel or enclosure. They are listed as CE, FCC and IC certified and NDAA compliant.
The UniFi industrial switches list STP and RSTP only. They support no ring redundancy protocol such as ERPS, MRP (PROFINET) or DLR (EtherNet/IP), so redundancy comes from dual power inputs and paired uplinks, not a ring.
No UniFi product carries a hazardous-location rating (Class I Division 2, ATEX or IECEx); UniFi gear goes in unclassified rooms, never in fuel, dust or chemical classified areas. No UniFi product is certified to IEC 62443; a design can follow the standard's zones-and-conduits approach, but nothing is described as 62443 certified. Finally, no substation (IEC 61850-3, IEEE 1613), marine or vibration approvals are listed.
