One Wi-Fi Name with a Private Network Per Password
How Private Pre-Shared Keys Work
Private Pre-Shared Keys (PPSK) give each tenant or unit its own password on a single Wi-Fi name.
Each password places its holder on its own network segment, known as a VLAN, so tenants cannot see each other's devices.
Hardware and Infrastructure Requirements
This configuration replaces per-unit routers, dozens of network names, or one shared password that lets everyone see everyone's devices.
It needs no RADIUS server and no per-unit hardware.
Device Compatibility and Network Limits
PPSK works with older equipment and IoT devices.
Users report PPSK is reliable on 2.4 and 5 GHz.
The user evidence comes mostly from home users, though the feature carries over directly to buildings.
As a technical limit, PPSK is WPA2 only, so it is not supported with WPA3 or on the 6 GHz band.
Guest Access and Short-Term Rentals
A guest network can run alongside the private networks, reaching the internet only.
In a short-term rental, this guest Wi-Fi covers the property and has no access to door hardware or sensors.
