Displaying Live Camera Feeds on Any TV

How the Protect Viewport Works

You can display your Protect camera feeds on an HDMI screen using a Protect Viewport. This is a PoE-powered box, meaning your TV setup only needs one Ethernet cable connected to the Viewport. Because it is a dedicated piece of hardware, there is no computer to maintain.

You configure the camera grid directly from the controller. Store listings describe the device as supporting up to 16 streams and 4K30 output, though the manufacturer provides only a one-line description of its capabilities. Note that a Display Cast signage player does not show camera feeds; the Viewport does that specific job.

Camera Capacity and View Limits

One Viewport shows up to 16 cameras. Larger estates use more than one Viewport to cover all their zones. If you have more cameras than spots on the screen, you can utilize rotating tiles. For example, a small business with 24 cameras runs a 4x4 grid with rotating tiles.

There is a hardware limit regarding specialty lenses: de-warped 360-degree views are capped at about two per screen before the Viewport struggles.

Uses for Retail, Warehouses, and Head Offices

Placing a monitor at the entrance showing live camera views is used as a deterrent in retail locations and at reception desks. You can also monitor multiple physical locations from a central room. One retailer's loss-prevention team at head office watches remote sites' cameras on a wall over site-to-site tunnels with no issues.
